The day of the premiere of the dance show started early, nine AM. The first show wasn’t until three PM. “A time to dance” was pulling together slowly but surely. Nerves were driving everyone forward and it amazes me how everything can seem so up in the air right up until the last minute or second as it was in this case…the dress rehearsals weren’t done until ten to three, I did mention nerves right??? Together we did it though, the operative word here being together. Without the supportive community that we have chosen to be a part of, different ages, dancers, parents, instructors, director, tech in form of lights, sound and rigging…without all of us pulling together we never could have pulled it off. I feel both proud and privileged to have been welcomed to this community, a place where we all work together towards a common goal, a place where we care about each other.
The show started and I sat there watching, a calmness descended over me as well as joy!!! They were good, really, really good and the show was fantastic!!! I have seen a few of the la Salle de dance shows before and I may be a tiny bit biased but I believe this was the best one yet.
I mentioned community… It was so nice to see the support and friendship the dancers had towards each other throughout this week. They cheered each other on no matter how long a day it had been or how tired they were. To me that is the secret ingredient to the success of the show…
My little dancer was also in the show. It is really nice for me to have this to share with Ulrikke and it was quite touching when I discovered that she is as proud of me as I am of her… Win, win really 😉
The show has two more performances today and then it is over for a little while… I know I will miss it but I know I will float on the feelings of pride and accomplishment for a long while 😊
